Service Learning ft. International Students
On the 7th of November 2024, together with the new coordination team for the iStudy project of the International Studies team, we invited to an information and networking event at the International Club of the University of Bonn.
As part of the event, we wanted to provide information about the opportunities offered by the service learning programme at the University of Bonn and highlight the associated prospects for a new teaching format for international students. At the same time, we wanted to enter into dialogue with interested parties about what a new teaching project could look like that is open to all students, is consciously geared towards the needs of international students and incorporates international, socially relevant perspectives.
Dr Naoko Tamura and Andreas Fischer also presented their own service learning teaching projects to illustrate their own path to service learning as well as their experiences and successes with this teaching format. Both Dr Naoko Tamura's Hiroshima-Nagasaki project and Andreas Fischer's MitSprache project are already very successful and effective examples of service learning with a global perspective.
